BS7671 – 17th Edition
The IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) is the UK standard for the safety of electrical installations to buildings. The 17th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations came into force in July 2008. This means new electrical installations must comply with this standard.,
Approved NICEIC Electrical Contractor
NICEIC is the UK electrical contracting industry’s independent body. It has been assessing the competence of electrical contractors for more than 50 years. SJD is a NICEIC approved electrical contractor for Industrial and Commercial work as well Domestic installations. This means you can be sure any work carried out by SJD will be safe and in accordance with legislation.
SJD undergoes regular assessments to ensure its work is of the required standard and it complies with the NICEIC code of conduct. All work carried out by SJD carries the NICEIC Insurance Backed Warranty.
ECA (Electrical Contractors Association) Member
The ECA is the UK’s largest electrical trade association. Founded more than 100 years ago, the ECA works closely with government and key national bodies to improve the electrical industry standards. As a member of the ECA, SJD must comply with the association’s codes of conduct and guidelines:
CHAS – Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme
We enjoy a good health and safety record based on sound practices adopted throughout the company. Our Company Safety Policy for employees, contractors and other persons associated with the company's activities aims to prevent work-related accidents and property damage.
As a member of CHAS, SJD undergoes regular assessments to ensure it achieves high standards of health and safety compliance. This means when you engage SJD to work on your electrical installation, you can be sure the required health and safety standards are met.
For your protection, all SJD employees are trained in health and safety procedures including areas such as manual handing and working from mobile work platforms.
Building Regulations Part P
The Part P Competent Person legislation came into effect in 2004. Part P of the Building Regulations states:
"Reasonable provision shall be made in the design and installation of electrical installations in order to protect persons operating, maintaining or altering the installations from fire or injury."
Part P of the Building Regulations was introduced to reduce the number of accidents caused by faulty electrical installation. It has also helped reduce the number of ‘cowboys’ operating in the market, many of whom were not suitably qualified to work on electrical installations.
All SJD electricians are trained and qualified to Part P level. SJD is committed to the ongoing training and development of its employees. When you instruct SJD to carry out any electrical installations on your behalf, you have the peace of mind knowing the work will be carried out to the highest possible standard, and will comply with the Part P regulations.
